My ex dumped me in September and we officially stopped speaking to each in November. I sent him a message telling him I no longer wanted him in my life and that I have no desire to be with someone as toxic as he was. I mostly angry because he said he broke up with me "to get his life together", but literally within a week of our breakup, he tried messaging other girls and hooking up with some 18 year-old at a party. Clearly, his idea of getting his life together is by cavorting around with other woman.

It's been three months since we last communicated and two nights ago, he messaged me. Not through Facebook, text or e-mail, but a music website.

He basically said, "I'm sorry for putting you through a lot. The only thing that bothers me is that you said I wanted to sleep with (insert name of specific girl). You know that isn't true, even when you read my messages, none of them said anything like that. I don't expect us to be friends or anything at all, but I expected you to act more maturely about the fact that I needed to get my life together. Anyway, I hope you're doing alright."

I never responded and I have no intention to because I found that there was nothing worth responding to in his message. It didn't even seem like he genuinely felt sorry for the wrongs that he did. On top of that, I find it incredulous to me that the only thing that bothered him was he fact that I said he wanted sex with another girl. There are obviously more things he should be bothered by. Like the fact that I discovered the terrible things he said about me.

I don't see why he contacted me if he isn't really sorry. I thought of him as the type to never reach out after what happened. I don't know why he went out of his way to message me on a completely random site. What does he want?

He doesn't want anything. Maintain NC.

I kinda think 'reaching out' is much different than just 'saying something'.

If the dumper is over it then it usually is pretty easy to say something- there is not a great deal of emotion wrapped up in it.

I have been the dumper, I have done all the selfish dumper things like initiate conversation out of boredom, or because I had been thinking about something that annoyed me.. it never meant I really cared.

Just ignore it, and keep going.
