Have you ever had someone do or say something so terrible or outlandish to you that you are not able to get over it? It could have been something just recently or years ago, but I find myself at times being haunted by things that others have said in the past. In some cases it's long ago, in others it's fairly recent. Sometimes it happens, it just sneaks up on me while I am about my regular daily business and it just hits. And it causes me to get angry, or it causes me to be just feel horrible. I try to keep myself distracted with doing other things, as well as working out and eating well to keep my physical and mental health in check.

Sometimes, it just creeps up on me. I remember some horrible man from the past, or how someone gave some lame excuse as to how or why they couldn't be with me, or seeing how others make mistakes around me. Some were nuts, some were losers, some were just cruel all because they didn't want to be with me, and I fully understand that there was a silver lining to all of these situations. It just haunts me every once in a while. Does anyone else feel that way?

Well, the way I deal with it is that I devalue the person saying those comments. I just think to myself "I don't respect X as a person so whatever he thinks of me is irrelevant". I have never had nasty comments from people I like and respect.

Yes. Some things you never forget.

"The pen is mightier than the sword".

'Even the Emperor's swiftest horsemen, are unable to retrieve the hasty word, once spoken'.

Once a thing is said, it hangs there for ever, an invisible blemish on our spirit.

if we let it.

There's a lot to be said for a bit of metaphorical elbow-grease and a soft cloth.

That mirror can shine again, but it's up to us to wield that duster.
