brokeNlost Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Can't take it. I'm feeling suffocated today, been thinking about her nonstop. The worst part is that I keep comparing myself to her new bf and wondering if she is really happier with him then with me.
JDPT Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 It's utterly irrelevant to compare yourself to anyone. Reroute your thoughts and focus on you and no one else. You must knock her off the pedestal you still have her on. Whether she is happy or not is no longer for you to worry. Take this time to heal, be strong know that the pain will eventually subside. 1

I would agree with this. After a breakup, especially it seems a GIGS inspired breakup, it is important to focus on making yourself happy. A little later on, and only when and if you are truly ready for it, imagining your ex with whoever they are with, or whoever you imagine that they might be with can be a fantastic exercise for healing. When you can work on this so that the idea doesn't cause you pain. But you are nowhere near that point yet, and so redirecting your attention (particularly effective, redirect to activities you enjoy--you may not feel like you enjoy them most of the time now, but if you continue to practice them, more and more you will start experiencing longer moments of happiness and enjoyment while doing them and it will prove to you that you can survive and thrive without your ex!)
