Complexus Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 A few months back when we were together, I went out of town. We werent talking much at the time so I hadnt told her I was leaving town. After I was gone she sent me an email which I replied to, it was then she seemed to know where I was. She later told me she used some kind of email tracker to see where it came from. I had my suspicions if that was the truth or if it was a gps tracker of some kind. Fast forward to the present... We have been broke up now for 2 months, I went 24 days nc not hearing a word from her. Once again Im out of town and she suddenly emails me, I didnt reply so she calls and texts me, again I didnt reply. As I drove home she called my cell and I saw upon getting home she called my house. Funny thing is that she hadnt called my house until the night I was getting home. So now im thinking shes tracking me, why I have no idea she ended it, tells me shes better off etc. But this tracking thing is rediculous if shes doing it. Any ideas or help for this guys?
salparadise Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 You often can tell where an email originates if you know what to look for. The IP address of the network from which it's sent will be in the header, and you can run the IP through whois and see where it's located. I use this method to keep spammers out of a forum that I host. GPS tracking is not easy. A device would have to either be wired into the car's electrical system, run on batteries, or be solar powered. And the unit itself or antenna would need line-of-sight exposure to the satellites. These factors means it would not be easy to conceal, install, or replace the batteries. She would have to be highly motivated and technically inclined to maintain GPS tracking. Email, not so much. My guess is that she ran the IP on the email the first time but didn't actually know anything the second time.
