Obviously, you were looking to make plans. He said, "Yeah I have plans, sorry, I can't do anything tonight." So yes, he was sorry he couldn't hang out with you. This is what you usually say to someone if they ask you to hang out and you're busy. It's the polite way to decline. 1

preraph Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 You're trying to read more into it than it is. "Sorry" is just a politeness. It doesn't mean he's regretting he's not with you. He said he was busy and declined your invitation, period. Now you asked him somewhere, wait and see if he reciprocates and asks you and if not, you'll know he's not interested that way. 1
