Is it just me, or has 2013 been the ultimate breakup year?

I'm just thinking about it... I'm in mid-20s and it seems to me like everyone among my close friends had a very rocky year, relationship-wise. In the second half of 2013, I've witnessed literally every serious relationship my friends were in fall apart, and same for their friends. We're talking about a dozen year-long or longer relationships falling apart, and no reconciliation in sight. In contrast, I know of only one new couple, which also started as a rebound after a 5year relationship and is working out so far. I've honestly never seen anything like it, it's as if my entire friend circle went from being in happy relationships to being single. The only good thing is that we all share the same experience at the same time, so it's easier for us all to go out together and mope if need be :)

So, has anything like this happened to you, or is it just my experience that is out of the ordinary?

I'm certain more breakupsnwill occur this year and the following and round and round it goes.

I understand this happens all the time, but my best friend and I were just talking about how this happened in our circle of friends in 2013 as well. It's just an odd coincidence, I guess.

Seemed like that to me too.

My cousin got divorced, two close girlfriends got divorced, a few close friends had breakups.

I thought it was a highly unusual amount of people I knew.

Weird!! maybe it was always this way and when we're not going through it, we don't really think about it.

Anyway, here's to a better year!! :D

2013 turned out to be a terrible year for many people I know... heartbreak came in losing partners, losing fathers and a lot of people lost their jobs... I'm just glad it's gone. Things are looking up for me already, thankfully.

I know this is completely random, but I always wondered how well the PILL from radio shack sold this year...as the robin thicke video with the "hidden messages". With break-ups this thing obviously looks like a dildo... I do not even mean this in a perverted way, as the video became popular and my break-up occured shortly thereafter...and the blurred lines video reminds me of my break-up.

Hah, the planets must have aligned in a very odd way in 2013.

All the bad breakups I see tend to come in waves - a "when it rains, it pours" sort of way.

In 2013, I watched more than a dozen relationships fall apart between family and friends. Some were just exiting the honeymoon phase (mine), and some where decades long marriages (an aunt and a cousin of mine).

Doesn't really mean much. I don't believe in that "everything happens for a reason" malarky, but it is a very weird set of coincidences I suppose.

I was depressed and heartbroken for the bigger part of the year.

I guess it is oddly so.

YES! I was just talking about this with my friend last week. I broke up with my ex of seven years. I reconnected with two old friends and found out they BOTH broke up with their girlfriends in August/October too. Seven and three years.

I've been hanging out with another good friend who I haven't seen for years but we're friends again like no time has passed. I found out he broke up on the SAME day as me and my ex! He's back together with her after two weeks but he's so unhappy and they could be on the verge of break-up.

Something about 2013.
