Yesterday evening, I got a massage. And I guess, I got a message too. :-) There is a point to this.

It was very nice and soothing. But it gave me a concrete example, a symbol, if you will of why we need to let go.

After the massage was over, the therapist left me in the dimly lit room with a hot towel folded under my neck. I knew then, that as much as I might want to hang on to the lovely feeling, that it is really nasty to lie there with cold wet towels, so I made myself get up. I sat in the room for a little bit, and really didn't want to leave the nice, warm, soothing, and pretty room. But it was near their closing time, and I really didn't want to make them stay too long.

But I didn't really get the lesson until I walked out of the building to my car. I must have looked,um, fascinating (my body and hair covered in oil). But the thing is, As I walked down my town's beautiful downtown, with all the of the lights shining in the dark, and the crisp night, I realized that if I had stayed in that room I would have missed the experience of walking down the street and seeing the absolutely beautiful night.

And it really showed me that there are plenty more wonderful experiences out there for me and other men. And what I would miss if I allowed myself to do nothing but look back.
