MrTurk Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 On my online dating profile, I wrote how I would enjoy trying some hiking, and mountain bike riding/off road biking activities. And a woman commented to me that I should be doing that stuff...not commenting about wanting to do it, or waiting to find a woman to do it with. She said thats a turnoff. I have heard this same roundabout advice from a number of women on different situations, but not specifically about my profile. What in the world is so wrong about me wanting to share activities and interest with a woman I end up dating?? Why do so many women view that as a turnoff if I'm not out doing it already? If I dont have anyone to do it with....I dont want to do it on my own. Why do I get persecuted for that in the dating world??
darkmoon Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 possibly biking is hard work and possibly too soon to commit to going off to the woods alone with a stranger, so to speak but I do agree with Carrie, you must find somebody who likes what you do maybe try a hiking club or start one up
Phoe Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 It's not a turn off. She's ridiculous. Please ignore her. My boyfriend had similar things listed on his OLD profile. While messaging back and forth, seeing those things and knowing we had common interests was just another reason for accepting his date invitation. With the right woman, the things you wrote will help you, not harm you.
potsticker Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 maybe she's projecting her own insecurities and apprehensions about seeming fake by putting things like that that are more or less flair?
Mondmellonw Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 It was just one women. Don't beat yourself on it!
Author MrTurk Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 It was just one women. Don't beat yourself on it! But I've seen a lot of other women reference the same issues, either online, in person, or on this very forum. I just don't get why some women would totally dismiss a guy if he isn't out doing it… Why do they see that as negative???
