"We men have a sex drive that has to be controlled in many ways. Can you imagine being in crowded tube trains in summer standing with curvaceous women in thin clothes swaying with their bottoms and breasts inches away when millions of years of evolution that never considered such circumstances have produced near overwhelming sexual impulses that in a moment's weakness could lead to the loss of a career and future, deep shaming, friends gone, etc. Or the temptation of women who are happy for a kiss and cuddle, but have no idea of the power of the male instinct? Most men have sympathy with those who succumb. (Million miles from a prowling rapist of course – hang them right away.) I won’t go on but other paths to assuage the drive can lead to loss of self respect and degeneration."

Ermm....LMAO! :lmao:

Can we have a bit of context for this please?

I think this is hilarious. The whole men are animals who simply cannot control their "natural urges" and when a woman is in front of them they are like wild beasts is crazy. We all have urges and part of being a human is that we can in fact control them. I do not think women are different from men in that regard. I see hot men all the time and I might get hot and bothered or fantasize about them, I too have to resist leaving kissing and cuddling at just kissing and cuddle and the list goes on.

What happened to make him say this? He mentions the "tube" London's version of the "L"/"El" here in Chicago. Did he get a little to excited by a woman standing close and...have mishap when his soldier snapped to attention?

Yes, we can control those desires. The problem comes to something as simple and basic as this.

SELF-DISCIPLINE.

If you don't control your emotions and desires, they will simply control you. Do you want to be in control of your life or be subservient to your desires and emotions?

This is the problem with men and women in general. They let desires and feelings overcome logic and intellect. You well know how to discern between right and wrong.

Heck, I was on a date this past weekend with -- probably a woman waaaay out of my league. She is probably the most drop-dead gorgeous thing I have ever seen. She was both TV and MODEL hot! (Not kidding). Why she wanted to hang out with me, I dunno. Maybe I am older, more mature and look great for my age. All I knew is that she wanted to hang out with me, and all the funny feelings I had on my first crush came back to me.

If you do not think for one second I didn't want to lose my Christian beliefs and faith and do something I shouldn't, you're wrong. However, my faith in God (what is right and wrong - morals) and understanding I wanted to be in control of myself and not my feelings or emotions. In the end, I never touched her in any way. In fact, I wouldn't even kiss her even though I know we both wanted to.

If you are disciplined and in control, this whole thread is a non-issue. We're not cavemen. We're intelligent beings. How you use the gifts God has given you determines the outcome 100% of the time.

I don't really understand why we are bringing god into a conversation about self control, but alright.

Depends on how you view life in general. If you're not a Christian then you may seem that this doesn't apply to you. However, morals and ethics transcend to those who are not believers. It's what is right and wrong.

Also, my friend, God has a CAPITAL G -- not a lower case g.

Cheers.

This. I'm not religious, but is the OP suggesting groping an attractive woman in public? lol.

I'm not religious either. I have faith, but not religion. And I am not sure, maybe the OP is using groping in public as an example. Either way, it's what is right or wrong -- morals and ethics.

Yeah I knew this is where you were going with this. One can have morals and ethics without your god. Its fine to say that's how you live your life. Very honorable. But to insist that others must live like you do, for its the ONLY moral and ethical way, is wrong.

Men maintaining self control and suppressing these urges ( I'm still not sure specifically what we are talking about in the OP ) is a question of character and inner strength. Moments of weakness will make you a slave to your urges, and that's just a recipe for disaster.

As a Christian, I am the last person to say how someone should live (I'm far from perfect). There are many people without faith who live very moral and ethical lives. However, as a believer I believe you should live by example and lead and hopefully other people see that you have something (a relationship) they would also like to have. I am vehemently against "supposed Christians" imposing their will on others instead of, much like Jesus, leading by example.

That is pretty much what I said, is it not?

I'll ask you women a question in response:

How easy is it NOT to desire riches, prosperity, status, security, and fashionable clothing?

That's about the same as your question towards men.

I doubt if most men have sympathy with those who succumb. Most the men I know have more integrity.

M30usa...true, but again, I don't. 'Succumb'. I wouldn't sell my body for all the riches in the world and nor would the women I know. My partner, family, children are a hundred times more valuable.

My uncle was telling me the other day that some guy got caught banging a coworker on a conference room table where he works. I get it. :o It makes you do dangerous, crazy, self-destructive things sometimes.

There's a good reason our ancestors started lobbing off part of our penis and it wasn't because it smells funny if they don't......

Yes because women NEVER get turned on. What a plague that only inflicts the male species. How do the little pookies control themselves.
