justinewong Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Okay, so when I got home, my younger bro (1 year younger) asked me to make him some food because he's hungry. I was hungry as well, so I've made it. After giving him the food, 5 minutes I walked into his room and sat on the floor. He got pist, and said why do I have go into his room. I was like what? Then he chucked a fit, and kick some of his stuff on the floor. I got up and left. Afterwards, my parents asked me what happened, I said he just got mad because I was in his room. Then my younger sister was like "You were in his room!". I don't know what happened, but I feel like my brother is being childish, and is over-reacting especially after the fact that he begged me to make him food, or did I miss something and that it's actually my fault because my younger sister is practically being a bitch and being on his side.
nescafe1982 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 How old is your brother? I've heard of children all the way through their early teens being extraterritorial of their space. Whether your brother's reaction was "normal" depends on how old he is.
acrosstheuniverse Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Whatever the age of the inhabitant, I think it's always good manners to knock and wait before entering someone's room. I'd be pretty annoyed myself if someone just walked in and sat down. It's the only space in your house that's yours! I wouldn't worry about it, in future just make sure you knock. Sounds like a rather petty sibling argument. 1

Even now, when someone comes to my office, pushes the door open, and makes themselves comfortable, I get annoyed. And I'm pretty friendly there... people know they can come chat whenever. But without a knock for courtesy's sake? I'm bound to get snarky.
