When I first broke up with my ex, I wrote down my feelings everyday (sometimes twice a day) and have kept them in a folder. It was one way that helped me cope with the breakup and the counselor I saw highly encouraged it. I have read back on them once, to see what I was going through, and to see where I am now.

Recently, I havnt really wanted to write (approx 3 month Post BU) because I feel like now, its almost the wrong thing to do. To fill your mind with any thoughts of them at all.

My question is, after your breakup, did you write to help yourself cope and if so, when did you stop writing?

I downloaded some diary app on my iPad and I wrote in it everyday. Sometimes twice just like you. I did it for 30 days straight and then I just stopped. It helped me a lot at that time. I haven't read any of those entries because I don't want to remember those bad days and nights. I was actually thinking about deleting everything someday, soon.

It wasn't after a break-up, but it was a diary/journal of a difficult personal emotional journey I had undertaken.

I let it all go by burning it, and symbolically destroying the negative influence of my past.

It was extremely cathartic, and as I burned it, I made the decision to never let those issues cloud my mind, my heart and my life, for one more day.

It worked for me.....
