Hi all,

My friends decided to logon to my facebook account and block my ex GF when we broke up, they said it would be good for me, so i left her blocked for a year.

I was randomly checking my privacy settings and noticed her blocked, i thought i'm over it now, so i'l just unblock her. So I did.

Two days later she blocks me... a bit weird, i wasn't planning on talking to her or anything, just thought i'd unblock her as the dust has well and truely settled.

It wasn't a good breakup tbh, she lied a lot too me, which meant i was unable to trust her. I knew she was seeing a close friend of mine weeks after we broke up (i no longer speak to this 'friend'). And have known for a year, so its not exactly secret lol.

Just wondering if you guys could know why she has decided to block me? I'm not bothered, just very confused!

Cheers!

Perhaps she wanted to show you who's boss. It's petty just forget it.

Maybe she was upset at you because you didn't begged her or anything.

Don't give much attention to it.

I think it's a power thing - like she wanted to have the last word.

You blocked her so she'll get you back and block you in response - that'll show him who's in charge!

Gosh, how I hate FB.

I wonder how she discovered you had blocked her? Did she visit your profile religiously every day? :D Ok, maybe your name popped up somewhere..

Anyway, maybe she was afraid you might write her something? Or was just annoyed. Could be anything, don't over analyze it.

Likely she is still with this guy and doesn't want you to have any insight in to her life. You are her past and she is determined you stay there.

Dude that's rough. People think that blocking someone on Fb isn't a big deal, but trust me it is, it has a very huge impact on the person you block.

She just returned the favor and she's still upset for you blocking her.

My ex wife blocked me a few years when I asked her to stop posting on my wall. Ok. Good riddance. It saves me the trouble. If I saw her name showing up I would block her now not to get her back but to make sure she stays out of my life.

It's easy.. when you unblocked her you then showed up on her friends list as a friend for everyone of her friends to see... including her BF.. of course she blocked you.

People would be asking her what you are doing on her friends list after a year

I think that when you block someone that automatically deletes you from the friend list and after unblocking you have to send a friend request to that person, but he didn't. Correct me if i'm wrong.

when you block someone they get deleted from your friends list, so he wasn't on her list

Or he had an old photo in his profile that she was still tagged in and when unblocking, she noticed it somehow popping back up in her profile? Or FB suggested him as someone she may know?

No, only if you delete them and blocking them does not delete them so if you unblock them within 24 hours you show back up their friends list...

you can delete them and also block them and that you would have to resend a friends request...

He showed back on HER friends list and also as someone she might know....

I know I am in a similar position with an EX. However during our relationship we had utter contempt for FB. She had me blocked on it nominally so that I won't have to deal with some of her friends ignorant racist comments regarding our association. It was irrelevant since we worked together and hung out every day six more hours on top of that for the better part of eight months.

What matters is not what happens on FB or what things look like on FB. FB is total BS. What matters is real life.

Oh, and she probably is checking your FB from time to time. Possibly from a relative or friends account.

he couldn't've showed up in her friends list, but maybe had a suggestion on the right side under "people you may know" yes

If you know anyone in common or have done so in the past she may have seen you when facebook suggests friends and simply blocked you.

Women usually do this because they don't want to have to deal with that person.

However you've not made contact, you don't care to make contact so it doesn't matter right?

Yeah...you're right...

What I don't understand is that her action is being scrutinized rather than his, he unblock her...

If she was looking at his profile and FB stalking him she wouldn't have blocked him..

She just wants his profile to stop showing up in her 'people you may know'

I have blocked people for that very reason.. not an ex but people I don't want to see every time I log in or because of the number of friends we have in common they show up at the top of the list every day..

Wow thanks everyone for the vast amount of responses!

I should clarify a few things. We have a LOT of friends in common, i'm still friends with one of her best mates on there aswell.

Yeah I agree with everyone pretty much!

She could be trying to show me who's boss, definitely.

She just may not want to contact me ever again as she has moved on, which is fine!

I think what has happen is that I responded to one of our mutual friends post on facebook, and she may have saw it pop up in her feed? Because our mutural friend tagged all of our mutural friends, including me and her, and I commented on it, so I think that was it!

I highly doubt she is checking my Facebook, as she is with him still! I'm pretty sure it was me commenting on it which showed up as a notification on her FB!

I think maybe it's because she just doesn't want any aggro, she's moved on, doesn't need me anymore, etc! I think? Who knows... No one except her xD

Cheers guys!

Uh, yeah, the tagging and you commenting was definitely it. She doesn't want you involved in her life in any capacity.

David....I just love what you said here. You are so right. Very often, this unfriending and blocking business on FB does have a tremendously painful impact on the person you block. This is the one thing I find the most distasteful about FB. I understand the reasoning why FB has this system, sort of, but it is a system that breeds unnecessary cruelty and devastation to far too many people.

OP, it sounds more like she just doesn't want to see anything to do with you on FB, and I get it, sort of, but even that just strikes a very sour and mean chord with me.
