Kevin_D Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 happydate: I'm so sick and tired of hearing these cliches over and over such as: "You must love yourself to be able to love someone else" "You must be happy on your own before you can be happy together" "You have to be confident or else your girlfriend will lose attraction and dump you" I know we live in a messed up society where the big goal is to seem as happy, confident and successful as possible, but this is getting ridiculous. The most important things in a relationship are communication and the ability to have fun together. It shouldn't matter if you watch movies all day long or travel around the world with your partner. And why is it so wrong to find happiness together with your partner? Everyone isn't happy or confident, in fact I would say most people are not, should they avoid dating? If people have treated you badly throughout life, it might be nice to meet someone with a simular background. But no, wait, that's wrong because these people can't possibly love each other, no, they will break up as soon as they become confident enough to figure out what they really want. **** this mentality!
somedude81 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I wonder as well. In my case, I did ask her what her parents said...and she said they just stay out of her private business like that. Which is understandable...but I wonder what the parents say to each other behind closed doors. I would love to be a fly on the wall sometimes. My ex actually lives with her parents and they seemed like the type to not stay out of her business I know they liked me, and I hope they told her she screwed up It would be interesting to listen to what their parents say to each other.

My fave team is San Jose b/c I'm originally from Cali but I loved the Blues after I moved to STL. A part of me thinks that as well. Sometimes I feel as though her parents don't agree with what she did, and, like you said, they're going to pick their daughter over me any day of the week. I, too, think they just don't know what to say. Haha, yeah. I live in Europe. And favourite team would be the Canucks. My ex always joked about that the Sharks was her favourite team because she believed they had the coolest merchandise... Women, you've got to love them.

I was born in SoCal but have a NorCal sports allegiance...except for the Giants. Sorry I'm a Dodger guy. But we moved to MO when I was young and now I love STL. People give me weird looks all the time when I wear my Cali sports gear haha Hockey is pretty tough to learn if you're new to it, but once you learn everything, it grows until it becomes a passion. 1

Funny you say that..since the Rams practically followed us to STL haha They suck right now but you gotta love them. They'll get better soon and I'm happy I had the chance to watch tthem win their Super Bowl.
Author SJChris Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) So she broke NC this morning to let me know she had to put her dog to sleep. I was really close to the dog..and was also the first person she let know what happened. The dog was a shelter animal that was neglected by guys when she was young, so she didn't like guys too well...except for me. She loved me. This sucks SO bad bc I want to be there for my ex. I told her sorry and talked a bit of putting my dog down a couple years ago. She kept wanting to text but I cut her off and said I had to move in to my new apartment. I wanted to keep talking. ..but couldn't. That comes with the whole bf package. Edited January 12, 2014 by SJChris
