What's wrong with carbs? Beware of white rice, you might end up like the Japanese, lowest rates of obesity and highest longevity in the developed world.

I'm not much of a dieter anymore, though I still eat "clean" most of the time.

When I don't, I usually feel crappy.

But...

I'd have to go with pizza with beer as my number 1 favorite non-standard food. And pumpkin pie. Can't forget that pie.

I had a cheat day yesterday. It consisted of the following:

Breakfast:

Ihop - Country fried steak w/ sausage gravy. Eggs over hard. 2 hashbrowns. Glass of orange juice. 2 small pancakes with butter & syrup.

Snack:

6-7 raspberry jam thumbprint cookies. THE BEST COOKIE EVER. made by my bf's mama.

Lunch:

Ihop leftovers.

Dinner:

Regular size popcorn w/ extra butter. Bite-size churros. Sprite.

WORTH. EVERY. BITE.

That could depend on how restrictive your diet is in the first place and your own behaviors. If you're the type that can't "cheat" without going full-on 4 plates at the local Chinese buffet, then avoiding a cheat meal or cheat day altogether might be best. Some people (myself included) tend to do better by allowing themselves daily treats, provided they are still hitting their target macronutrients for the day.

Both approaches can work. The trick is finding something that works with your behavioral needs, lifestyle, physiological indicators, etc.

As always, caloric balance ultimately holds the reigns.

I would agree, but I embellish (enhance? Improve?) My BBB pot noodles with a handful of roasted barley grains, and a tablespoonful of linseeds.

Both are good diet supplements, and I feel more virtuous. :p

And a lot fuller.

A pot noodle made this way, can keep me going for about 6 hours.... But you need to drink at least a litre of water too.....The linseed can cause.... pretty major blockage, if you don't..... :D

I think it would be interesting to see what each person who has posted in this thread's definition of "clean eating" is.

My guess is that there would be quite the spectrum.

What metrics define "clean" versus "dirty" foods? Caloric density? Processed or non-processed? Dairy free? Gluten free? Glycemic index? Free range? Organic? Vegetarian?

Gourmet ice cream and all other manner of desserts.

I probably 'cheat' way more often than I should...

Maybe it depends on why you are "cheating".

I cheat once a week with some sort of take out or restaurant meal. But the cheat portion is primarily the luxury of not cooking, at the cost of paying more and not feeling as great after eating it. Too much sodium, too much processed food, too much fried--and I just feel like crap. The next meal, I'm craving my typical clean diet.

On the other hand, I do have small treats daily: a handful of corn chips, or a few pieces of chocolate, or a small cup of ice cream.
