I'm new to this but would like some input. The short story of my break up is I was engaged to a man for the past year and with him 4 years total. 3 months ago I sold my house, gave him 30,000 dollars to pay off his debt (because we were building a life together it seemed to be the smartest move - get out of debt), and moved in with him. This past new years I found drugs in his pockets, confronted him and HE broke up with me (also we are to get married in 5 months). Since the split, I've found out he's cheated on me with several women, has been doing drugs behind my back. He still lives in that house, and I am out 30,000. Any advice??

Damn, sorry to hear about this! What a scumbag. You must have all documents of the transfer to him of $30,000? First thing would be to call a lawyer and or the police? Surely? You need to contact some authorities.

I know how painful it is to be cheated on, but right now whats more important is getting your money back and him out of the house.

If you sold the house, how come he still lives there?

Short of attempting to take him to court, the money you gave him was a gift. It's very hard to get back a gift. Had you had documents drawn up detailing the loan, the repayment plan etc, then maybe. But I think his is a valuable lesson learned - never dig someone out of debt. They're on their own.

Him and I were living in my house which he put no money toward, so we sold it and moved into his house (we were using it at the time as a rental property) I told him I wanted to be put on title but he broke up with me before we got around to it.

I think you may need to make a police report about this, ASAP. Also, hire a really good lawyer.

I am so sorry you got involved with such a lying creep of a con-artist.

The very silver lining in all this is that you NEVER married him. How very lucky for you!! Good luck....

Had you put any money toward this rental property home he is living in?

Oh, my gosh....you're probably right.

What a terrible shame if that is the case.

Yeah, im guessing you are in America so its different to over here. I think the best thing to do is to go to the nearest police station and tell them that you have been engaged to a man for 1 year. Recently he asked for a loan of 30k to clear debts, given that he is your fiance, you agreed. Well, now you have discovered he has been using that money for drugs, you confronted him, and he told you your not getting your money back and he has now kicked you from the house.

Thats a crime. Its not a present of 30k, its a loan that he agreed to pay back. Lie, and tell them thats the case, its your word against his and they will be able to verify this by checking yours and his bank statements.
