Eggplant Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 :lmao: My mother goes on about how it's more acceptable today than it used to be to not be in a committed relationship. It's an effort to talk about it without directly pressuring me. Whatever... she can't help it.
MalachiX Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I have a feeling that a "fake boyfriend" isn't nearly as much fun in real life as it is in the 20 million romantic comedies that have done this. I suggest something more original like bringing a blow up doll. 2
Lady2163 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks for the laugh. I almost hired a local actor to be my date one time... 1
Onethirtyeight Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Friends, an escort service (for its legit purpose), or that what's your price pay for dating site.
gaius Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Do stand in boyfriends get any kind of action or do they just get to stand there?
Author youdunsay Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Haven't thought of the job description yet. Any ideas from the floor? Edited January 5, 2014 by youdunsay
d0nnivain Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I'd occasionally ask good guy buddies to be my date to weddings etc. During a long single period I was the "go to girl" for about a half dozen of my guy friends. I went to the weddings, work parties & sports banquets. I always made it clear that there would be no shenanigans & a slow dance or two would be the only physical contact.
fortyninethousand322 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I'm in. I'm not doing anything right now and I'm obviously single... 1

carhill Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 OP, in order to have stand-in boyfriends, you should become adept at developing orbiters. Orbiters are young men who want you but will never really have you but you don't have to reveal that to them. When a stand-in is needed, simply snatch one down out of orbit, execute, then place him back into orbit. I got some pretty cool perks being a stand-in - travel, free meals, social functions. Not quite an escort but you get the drift. Being an orbiter IMO really isn't any fun in general and I don't recommend it to guys but, hey, you're not a guy so it's not your problem. Do what suits you. Is your mom a good cook? 1
ja123 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Don't tease the orbiters. Find a gay man for this kind of exchange; whereby, on occasion, you can be his beard.
Eternal Sunshine Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 If you find one, let me know. I have the same problem

Hate to say it, but this actually the way I used to deal with it Or I'd just take an ex to family functions - you know, one they didn't like, that works REALLY well. They start encouraging you not to settle
hotpotato Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I would like to know, too. My mom asked if I was a lesbian...
Author youdunsay Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 Grooming orbiters isn't it the same as a female player? Emily, smart of you
carhill Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Nah, you're just a lovely young lady with a lot of admirers. Been going on for ages. Don't worry about it. We have different names for stuff like that now. Treat your orbiters well and you'll be surprised at how long they stay up there before burning up. Eventually, you'll meet the guy who's your mate and the Mercury program will end and maybe you'll go to Mars or something with him, or just to your parents for dinner. Good luck! 1

I wouldn't be an "orbiter" in the first place but I certainly wouldn't stick around as a friend or anything afterwords if I wasn't informed you want me to do a favor for you.
Author youdunsay Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 Nah I have zero number of admirers.
