youngbutoldsoul Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 My bf of 2 years left me but I understand given how hard our circumstances were, he had little choice. He told me he still loved me and wished it worked for us. After all I was his first kiss, first love, and everything. A week or so after our breakup he met someone else. His attitude changed 180 degrees as he detached from me. His friends said he wishes he and I could be friends and he wants to be close to me without me wanting him. From what I read here, most people's first love is their biggest cut. I know because mine was (before him). How is it possible he could claim to be okay with just friendship with me? This was the guy that fought through so much because he wanted to marry me.

Author youngbutoldsoul Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 Why did you break up? Living together and extreme stress from the circumstances. He said he lost feelings.
deathandtaxes Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Living together and extreme stress from the circumstances. He said he lost feelings. Meeting someone so soon after breaking up sounds like he had already met that someone else and that could have caused everything, including the lost feelings. Don't be friends with him. Do yourself that favor.

Some people compartmentalise better than others. He's met someone new. Regardless of what number gf/bf you are, meeting someone new is a great way to kill feelings for the old person.
