joeyNoelle Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 hey guys Iknow this may sound like a ridiculous problem but.... I have been really stressed out and run down lately and i got a cold sore, its healing and is just a scab on one area of my bottom lip and there is another one just below it which is healing. usually this would be ok i would just let it heal no big deal......but my boyfriend wants to come over tonight and i told him i have a scab on my lip etc he was like gross kind of joking... i just said he couldn't kiss me,thats all... i have put up with really gross stuff from him etc I'm just worried that it will gross him out to have a scab on my lip.... do you think this is something that i should care about or do guys not care too much about that?... We have only been together 3 months. Also anyone have any tips on avoiding them in the first place?
RowanRavyn Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Cold sores are a virus. There isn't much you can do to avoid them permanently. I reccomend Herpicin-L. If they are particularly bad, you can go to the doctor and get a prescription cream.
jellybean Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Cold sores...it has just occurred to me that I haven't had one in ages! I would usually get an average of 3 a year...but that was back when I was working in an industry that I really hated. New job = no cold sores, yay! Yes, it's a virus - but I'm convinced that STRESS can trigger the outbreaks. And man, can they EVER be gross-looking...depending at what stage the sore has healed, don't be surprised if your guy thinks twice about wanting to kiss you - right now. Oh oh oh, and I'll never forget what one guy said to me once : "You look like you're wearing a cornflake on your lip".....nice visual, huh? but it was true! *chuckle*, er...I mean...NOW I find it funny
RowanRavyn Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Stress can for sure be a trigger. Strangely enough citrus is also a trigger for me. =-(
