Exclusivity does not equal commitment. People can even be exclusive FWBs.

I agree that actions speak louder than words, but if this guy is shying away whenever the OP talks about relationships at 5 weeks, that's a pretty loud action IMO.

I haven't talked about relationships with him and he is not shying away.

That's the whole problem I have - I haven't brought it up and I don't know how to bring it up. I will eventually once he comes back home.

Actions speak louder than words. It hasn't even been two months yet he isn't interested in dating other women. He is committed to dating only you. Get it?

If labels are so important to you, would you be happier if he married you and called you 'wife' and screwed other women?

You are going to blow this relationship big time if you don't back off this line of interrogation. How old are you? You come off like an inexperienced teenager.

I really believe that this is an over-simplification. Announcing and expressing one's relationship with another is also an action. Why not simply do the simple and say that she is his girlfriend? If he feels that way, there should be no problem putting the label on the relationship.

All in all, actions do speak louder than words, but I am baffled as to why anyone would object to placing a label to a relationship unless he/she is avoiding additional commitment. The act of placing a label on the relationship and the continued actions that demonstrate exclusivity are both desirable.

Again, I will never get people who are repelled by relationship labels. To go on an extreme tangent, shall I tell my future wife once we are married that calling her my wife is not necessary? Okay, probably went too far with that one.
