bostonterrier Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I don't have a religion but I do believe in a higher power tho, now I can't tell if we have a spirit or not, the only thing I know is that if everybody follow confucius teachings the world would be a peaceful place. Did Confucious believe in any God?
Clair93 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I don't think it's a religion but you could call it an ideology (or even a secular religion). From what I understand he did not believe in God and you could call him an atheist.
jba10582 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The study of world religious has been a very fascinating topic, and there are many books out there that cover comparative religions especially with the ones most predominant in the world today. There is a book that is laying around that has yet to be read and has a chapter dedicated to confucianism. It is written so that any chapter on a particular religion can be read in any order based on what you are interested in learning about. I am trying to find time to get to to it, amongst other things going on.

Did Confucious believe in any God? From what I recall, Confucius believed in the Tao, which is more deistic, if you could even classify it as a god-driven paradigm at all. Confuciusism is more of a sociopolitical philosophy if anything. I would classify it as a philosophy, but I could see an argument for both.
TaraMaiden Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 This may help. It sounds as if you'd be more inclined towards Taoism, than Confucianism.... but the choice is yours. Enjoy.
