hotgurl Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Hi, I was wondering if any one has PCOS here? I am trying to manage it with birth control and diet. So does any one have any tips. I am insulin resistant because of it
Pocky Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Thankfully, I don't get to add this to my list of health issues. Since not many people are answering maybe you can find more information here? http://groups.msn.com/PCOSSupportCommunity/home
Barby Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I had/have PCOS.....I am also insulin resistant....I didn't know what the problem was for years but finally I found a doctor who knew about it and had been started on metphorm (i can't spell sorry) for it but since having surgery (for something else) and my weight has decreased...the insulin resistance and dark markings have started to rapidly decrease and now I'm regular as far as menstrual goes... There is a forum strictly for people with this disease..I don't currently have the URL but if you'd like I'll PM it to you if i can find it again. just let me know.
Author hotgurl Posted January 10, 2005 Author Posted January 10, 2005 Yeah that would be great. My doctor doesn't want to put me on metfroman yet. Because I am not really overweight 20 pounds or so but I have had problems with nausea and ibs so she is afraid of the side effects. It is getting worse. I just feel worse. I am gaining weight even though I eat nothing. Typically it's 1/2 cup oatmeal w/ raisins for breakfast a salad for lunch or 1 cup of clear broth soup like chicken soup for lunch and chicken or fish for dinner. water throughout the day and herbal tea. And I still gained 10 pounds in a month
