greenfairie Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 (edited) I'm just curious on your thoughts on this question. My ex of four yrs texted me happy birthday but I didn't reply. It's only been a few months of NC. I thought we agreed to NC and not to be friends though. We cannot be "just friends". I'm confused. Would he notice or even care a bit if I did not reply? margot13 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 It's a hard question, I guess it really depends on how you feel about it? 1
Author greenfairie Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 It's a hard question, I guess it really depends on how you feel about it? Mixed feelings of anger/resentment and peace. "How dare you text me Happy Birthday after what you've done acting all innocent. **** you and leave me alone." "I'm glad to know you're thinking about me and you care. Thank you." "I wish we worked things out." AHH. 1

Maybe leave it for the day and respond tomorrow if you still feel like it?
margot13 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 And most importantly don't worry about what he thinks or if he cares. It's now about you, he lost the chance privellage of you taking him into consideration of his feelings when you broke up. Maybe that is harsh and I am not an overall believer in being selfish but this is one time you should only think of you!
Riou Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 He could have thought of you or it's just out of courtesy. If i remember reading from one of your threads, you were the dumper?

He may notice but it doesn't mean he cares. A day shows up on ones calendar and you remember it's someones B-Day and you call or text H-BDay. I've done this plenty of times without a romantic interest.
kat1012 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 He may just want to be friendly, make peace with you, dont want things to be ugly between you two. I got one from my ex too when it was my birthday. I just replied with a "thank you". Beforehand, I was thinking of sending my ex a "Merry christmas", in the end I didnt haha, he didnt send me one either
