In my last year of grad school (out of state) I had a crush on a classmate, but had a boyfriend at the time so I felt guilty and distanced myself from him. Thus, we were never really close nor hung out alone or anything like that. I was browsing a online dating site which I do not have any profile picture on.. and I saw my crush's face pop up. I searched for him on facebook and decided to send a message in attempt to reconnect with him since he has moved to my town recently. Honestly, I am really unsure if he even remembers me. In my message I asked him to update me on his life to start the conversation going. He doesn't log onto facebook often and didn't even read my message until 3 days after I had sent it. His fb also does not have much activity either. 5 days after that he had friend requested me and I accepted. It has been nearly 2 weeks and he still has not replied to my message.

I feel since I had already put myself out there that I should not send another message. I deactivated my dating profile because I do not want him to find me on there and think I am stalking him. I assume maybe he has forgotten my message or not interested in reconnecting with old classmates???

I am not sure what to make of this...

What do you think about this? Try to think absolutely nothing about it. I've felt this before and it will tear you apart! You reached out to him, now just let him come to you. If he doesn't...don't sulk. Just continue looking for the next best thing!

You don't make anything of it. Just someone that didn't respond to your message

I just did something similar over email. Today in fact. Have no idea what the response is yet but I'm a little afraid to check...

Reach down, grab your balls. Tell yourself man would have not made it the pasty 4000 years without doing things they did not want to do. And contact this girl and politely ask her how she is. And go from there.

I'm curious to know how any of the reaching-out attempts went.

I have been thinking about reaching out into the past myself. About 5 years or so ago, had a crush on this girl. She was still in college, I was already working. I fell that the maturity level was different and didn't pursue her any further. But we remained friends on facebook. Been single again, she as well. Was thinking about reaching out to her again. But she lives in another town (about 4 hours away).

I'm curious to know about the experience of people who have reached out into their past. How it went. What strategies did they use?

And ladies, how do you feel if a guy didn't pursue you in the past now shows interest? Would you be open to give him a chance?

Nothing happened. :( He has had no facebook activity in over 3 weeks. He is either not interested or forgot about my message. I don't regret reaching out though because I did make the effort and won't constantly wonder "what if..." Honestly, I was looking to have a friendship with him anyway.

In your case, I think you should reach out! It doesn't hurt to send a message to ask how she is doing and to catch up. You have nothing to lose. If she responds.. GREAT. If she doesn't.. at least you tried!

Let me know how it goes! :)
