a) an average-performing public school.

b) an average-performing Christian school which teaches unscriptural doctrine.

I vote that A is better. There is nothing more damaging to a person's future walk with God than incorrect doctrine within the church, itself, from a young age. It's almost irreparable. Even full exposure to the "godless" world can easily be overcome. But when one thing poses as something else, THAT is what really deceives people. I've seen more people come to a knowledge of The Lord after having been fully exposed to the world than after being exposed to the "nice" world of Christian school with half-truths and misrepresentations of truth. At least in public schools you learn the truth of godlessness; but in many private Christian schools you don't even learn the truth about the Word of God, but instead receive a palatable mix resembling paganism.

How about none of the above? To extrapolate on your point, Paul Crouch, founder of the Trinity Broadcasting Network passed. TBN in general promulgated and still does, some very questionable doctrine, but has exposed millions to Christianity. So is a distorted gospel that converts millions better than no gospel at all?

Good points, but many gospels taught are not the TRUE gospel.

And which gospels are the "true" gospels?

Better for what?

How about a good school -- public or private -- while getting your religious education from the Church who teaches what you believe as dogma or gospel.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.

"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:8 ESV)

Considering the millions of kids sent to Catholic schools by parents who believed that the Catholic Church taught unscriptural doctrine I am guessing your thesis of long term damage is wrong. It is more a matter of economics then doctrine which is causing the closing of much of their school system in my opinion.

And how do you know this to be true? After all, it's just another bible passage.
