Lovingsomeone2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 So if you've declared you're in an "exclusive" relationship, does that mean you've earned the title girlfriend or boyfriend automatically? Is exclusivity one in the same when it comes to titles? Is it a big deal? I mean if you've declared your exclusive then when does the title come along or does it automatically come without saying? I'm just curios. I've been dating a guy for over a month, we've had the exclusivity talk and agreed we are exclusive, but I've had friends ask me "so is he your boyfriend", which I'm not sure how to respond to that. In my eyes I'd assume yes, but in his I'm not sure if that's how he sees it. Is it a childish conversation to have with him if we've declared we're exclusive? How did you know in your own relationship, did you actually discuss the subject or did it go without saying? Did you just start to introduce him as your boyfriend (or girlfriend in the case of men). I would hate to introduce him as such with not having discussed it in advance with him and have him feel uncomfortable.
d0nnivain Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 After about age 25 the label seemed childish to me. I rarely said BF or GF. I just introduced the person. From the context & our body language it was always clear we were in a relationship. Before that, I wouldn't use the label until the other person used it first.
