He ended up telling me that he did not want to get to get feelings involved because he didnt want to get attached and he didnt want to get hurt. blah blah blah... So I stopped talking to him in an attempt to cut my feelings off for him. Besides saying "hello" in passing, we didnt speak for 4 months. One night I did something dumb and I ended up texting him. Yes, I know I shouldnt have. Anyways we texted back and fourth for a few days. And everything was going fine until I told him that I wanted to talk to him in person. He asked about what, and I told him it wasnt bad at all, I just wanted to catch up. He said "okay, later on this week"... By that time it was thursday and I was going out of town. I told him that we'd have to do it another time. When I came back a week later I texted him randomly, not mentioning that I wanted to talk to him in person. He replied and I did right back, but then he didnt text back after that. I just decided to let it go since he didnt text me back. Now its been 2 weeks since we last spoke. I still havnt text him... but yesterday he ended up liking one of my pictures on instagram. It was a pic that I posted 7 months ago at that. Im just not sure if this is his lame attempt to get my attention or if he wanted me to know that he creeps on my instagram pictures.. If he wanted to talk to me why doesnt he just text me?

Like you said it was a 'dumb' thing i.e. no one else more interesting. A like on insta I'd say means he's still thinking about you but again not so much to come chasing after you. Grab your friends, go out and meet some new people!

Because he doesn't really want to talk to you, that's why. You're over-thinking his Instagram activity. If he wanted to talk or see you, he'd have done that by now. His lack of initiative speaks loudly.
