Presents or no presents?

Hi,

 

I'm dating a girl, we've been dating just under 1 month, and we've been on 5 dates.

 

I haven't been in this situation before with dating someone so close to xmas. Should i ask her whether we are buying presents for one another or do i just buy something? What do you buy for someone during the dating phase?

 

Any help would be great

I probably wouldn't ask; it's a little too soon. I'd show up with something little, most likely edible. I'd downplay it if the other person didn't get me anything.

I was concerned that if i did get something, that it would be extremely awkward not receiving anything back. Yes, i know that's not what its about!

Chocolate is always good.

 

If you can't be extrmely gracious if you don't receive anything back, talk to her 1st.

 

Another option: have the present, hold it in reserve, see what she does. If she comes up with a gift for you, viola you have one too. If she doesn't just keep yours & eat it yourself.
