d0nnivain Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 What does LS think about this? It used to be more common. Now you hardly see it. Have you ever gotten one? Have you ever given one?
clia Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I usually get 8-9 bottles of wine or champagne each year from coworkers or other attorneys I have worked with in the past. No liquor. I think wine or champagne is perfectly appropriate, provided the person enjoys a glass every now and then.
Elliotte Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 At my office's white elephant the most popular items were the bottles of whiskey and bouron!
Arieswoman Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I think you need to be careful with this. It is a nice gesture to show appreciation but if the recipients were Methodist or recovering alchoholics then it wouldn't go down well ! How about gift vouchers to spend in certain stores? 1
firemanq Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Forty years ago I would buy a bottle of booze, and keep it under parts the counter. When a customer would come in he was invited to partake. Ssometimes I would close early and take a bottle to some of the shops. They would sample my whisky and I would sample some of theirs. One Christmas Eve, I drove home and went to bed. the wife was pissed, the kids were disappointed. That was the last year for booze. The next year, I called the other shops and parts department and we decided no more alcohol. I give my employees a grocery store gift card. It is put in the envelope with their paycheck on Dec 30 or 31. Everyone can use food. They also get paid a couple of days early.
