purplesoccer34 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I met a guy through a friend years ago, but we didn't get to meet in person again until about 2 months ago. He moved into the same city that I live in around that time, and that's when he first sent me a message on facebook asking if I would get dinner with him. He said he doesn't know anyone in the area and wants to make new friends, so we did go to dinner--but only as friends. Three days after the dinner, I texted him saying that we should meet up again. It was just a friendly text and he agreed that we should, but that he'd be very busy. Therefore, neither of us has really spoken since the dinner. It is true that he's extremely busy--he just started a new job and is out traveling almost every weekend. I'd really like to get to know him and be friends with him, so would it be weird if I were to text him again asking what he's up to? We haven't spoken in almost 2 months, so I'm a little hesitant. I'm also afraid he might have thought of me as kind of dumb, haha--he's an absolutely brilliant guy. He's a Harvard grad who majored in physics, and has a long list of accomplishments at just 23 years old. I just graduated from college, and I'm much more average in comparison, but I loved listening to all the random facts he told me. I'm also hesitant, because while we were talking online he would take several days to respond to every message, which shows that he either doesn't wish to speak to me or he's very busy--could be either one. Should I text him anyway? What would be the best thing to say?

Perhaps his lack of response in timely manner means he really wants you to get the hint he's not looking for more. He could've gotten a feeling you want more. You're hesitant with a good reason. Your gut is telling you to back off. Wait for him to get back to you. A man is never that busy he can't take 8 seconds out of the 77899 seconds in a day to respond.
