So my ex send me a text congratulating me on my graduation.. When we broke up, I previously told her not to contact me anymore as I initialized NC. But now I'm torn over this text message. One part of me don't want to break my NC and the other part of me feel like I am obligated to say thank you. What should I do in this situation?

You are not in a relationship with that person anymore and therefore, you have no obligations, whatsoever!

You are only obligated to do what makes you happy. You told her to not contact you, she did not respect that. She clearly does not respect you. Who cares if you she "thinks" you are ungrateful. Only care about what you think.
