Viking-Liz Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hello all. As the topic states, I am wondering if there are any others on here that met while gaming? How did it progress, and do you use the game to keep the LDR sparkling? In my case, I met my hubby in a MMORPG, and he will be moving here in february 2015. 1
AShogunNamedMarcus Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 My wife and I met in an mmorpg in the 90's. In a few months the progression was flirting IM email phone calls driving to her state living together After a few months, due to issues neither of us were ready to work on, I broke it off and went home. We stayed in touch over the game and eventually got back together the following year. This time she moved in with me. We were married the year after that.
Keenly Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 That's pretty awesome.I've met really great friends but never a girl. Perhaps one day ?

Most gamers in this LDR forum don't last long, and most of them NEVER met the person they play with. Or if they arrange to meet, everything fizzles out before the meet up actually happens. The age range of gamers who wrote in here is mainly 17-30. Most gamers play for hours and hours on end, and it's a daily routine in most cases. Jealousies between gf & bf's friends or between bf and gf's friends are also common, and eventually lead to fights and break ups. That's for my cheap stats.

Due to my cellphone and bad reception at the moment, I could not run a search. As for your stats, they doesnt count for us as we didnt decide on anything before we met. We are both in our late twenties, with normal social lives (work, friends etc). Keenly, maybe one day? 1
Els Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Welcome, OP! We first met on campus IRL initially (both in other Rs at that time), but we actually connected through gaming online when we were both single and apart. We did LDR for 2 years, and I moved to be with him 3.5 years ago. Been living together happily since then, and have obtained residence via partnership. I'm not the only one on these forums, either. LisaLee, an old-time poster, has done the same with her gamer bf, although I don't think she posts here anymore. Good luck! 1
gaius Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) My mostly dead WoW guild had a lot of that going on during it's heyday. The leader introduced his girlfriend to the game so she'd she stop bugging him about playing it so much and it led to her having affairs with a few guys on there. Another member met his wife in the guild and as far as I can see on facebook they look like a delightfully happy, living together couple. Good for you for making him move and not the other way around. Edited December 12, 2013 by gaius
2fargone Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 My ex and I 'met' in a game. I think after a couple of months after we stopped playing and didn't speak for awhile we started talking on MSN and became a couple. LDR at first but she moved in with me. I guess the 'usual' happened and we broke up. In any event, us breaking up had nothing to do with meeting ingame.
Author Viking-Liz Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 Good for you for making him move and not the other way around. I have my own home and everything with it. I also have horses and a dog, a great job etc, so that was the only actual possibility:o 1
small lady Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Me and my boyfriend of 22 months met on a roleplaying game! We spoke pretty much everyday for 6 months and the thought of meeting up with each other never really crossed either of our minds even though we lived only half an hour away from each other. I did always have feelings for him during our friendship so when he mentioned jokingly that he should get the train to see me I thought why not! We were long distance from February 2012 until September 2013 when I moved up to where he lived because of university. When we first starting seeing each other, both of us still played on that game but over time we both lost interest and left at around the same time.
honeycomb Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Yes! My stbh (we're getting married next week) and I met on WoW in August 2008. There was mild flirting in-game, which progressed to private messaging in-game, then voice chat, chatting on AIM, watching movies on Netflix while chatting on voice chat, and a few months after we "met" in game, we met IRL (March 2009). I flew down to his state and spent a week there, then months later he flew up here and spent six weeks (August of 2009). After that I flew down there once more, and we then drove back up to my state with all of his belongings (January 2010). We've been together ever since, engaged since May of this year and we're planning to elope the day after Christmas. We consider our anniversary January of 2009 since that was when I purchased airfare to visit with him.
Author Viking-Liz Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Wow! Congratulations! So happy to hear that I wish you two all the best!
WailFin Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Yes! I used to RP on this site, and I met this guy, and whenever I learned that he gamed, we friend requested each other on xbox and he introduced me to his friends. Because of that introduction I met my boyfriend through his friends. I've known him for a year and a half now, and we've recently made the jump from friends to in a relationship.
