Hello,

I have been together with my first girlfriend for a year when I left for an exchange year to another country. We promised each other to give our best to stay together.

It has never been easy but we managed to stay together for four months, but now she is telling me that she does not love me anymore. She claims her head still knows that she loves me but her head has to convince her heart again. There are no new experiences for her, only memories. She has not got the feeling to be in a relationship with me anymore...

She wants to try to stay together, but cannot promise me that she will if she is falling in love with somebody else who is physically there.

I will not see her for another 7 months and do not know what to do...

It is so hard without ANY physical contact at all...

You need to let her go. It takes two to be a couple and she's not having feelings for you. Just loving memories.

Tell her you are let down and deeply hurt because she doesn't love you anymore, and that you don't want to keep her like that, as it makes no sense. Two people must be happy to be together. She will date other people and have fun, and you will enjoy your remaining 7 months abroad.

Wish her Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year at the same time, in the same message. Then go no contact. Don't make the mistake to remain friends just now, maybe one day, in one or two years, if ever.
