I don't know if this will help or not, but maybe it could help put certain important issues or things with your ex in context. Reduce them down a bit and make them more comprehensible and manageable.

If you ex had a theme song or songs, what would they be and why?

My most recent ex's songs

1) Johnny Cash--Hurt (Yes, I know Nine Inch Nail fans, but once Cash did one of your songs, it really became his). I chose this one for him because he really had massive attachment issues and fear of abandonment and rejection.

2) AWOLNation--Sail. I chose this one for him because of utterly mind-bending nature of what happened. The many questions it left in its wake. The confusion. And ultimately, the confusing question of who left whom and why. It was so painful, traumatic, and not that he intended it to be so, but almost sadistic in the effects it had on me.

So what about your ex? Exes?

Wouldnt Sail be your theme song?

If had a theme song for her, it would be Neil Young's Harvest Moon.

And for me Danke Schoen by Wayne Newton.

Well. Yes. In a way. but only because I had to. But it was his first. He made the choice to "Sail" and set the whole thing off.

Control by Puddle of Mudd

Sexy song!

Another good one is With or Without You by U2

Lastly a personal favorite of mine by the Lemonheads called

Hannah and Gabi, pretty song;

....

'Kinda hoped you wouldn't blame me

I can`t wake up every day and find the same me

You can scream but I'll just dream how you might disappear

All I know is it's never clear'

and I am a fan of Johnny Cash for the past 5 years, I like the melancholy of Hurt. I love his song Ring of Fire.

Mario :( Couldn't get into Neil Young :bunny: sorry I tried :) But Wayne Newton was good :)

Harvest Moon is what I hear to think of her and feel my sadness. Danke Schoen is good song for moving on and saying goodbye.

I know barely anyone on this forum likes metal but hey here goes lol.

Shedding Skin by Pantera kind of illustrates how much I was attached to this woman, and how she never really felt the same way.

Another non metal song would have to be Down In A Hole by Alice in Chains because the metaphor of death described what happened to the relationship, and it made me feel like I was down in a hole.

The only song that strikes a chord in my brain about my ex is a song I heard after we broke up. Now I'm not the type of person who takes great emphasis from analysing every single word of the lyrics in a song since for me personally I just prefer to let the music do the talking most the time......anyway for my theme song of the ex I'm electing Journey-Separate Ways.

It's quite an upbeat kinda break up tune (I hate soppy/sad/slow/emotionally draning love songs generally and this isn't one of them). I love the beat on the intro and I love it when the chorus kicks in....that's about it.
