btvdts Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 so I've posted a bit here before about my ex and the end of the relationship and blah blah blah. A lot of people will say well look at how the relationship started. it was doomed to fail. so what I want to know is what exactly is a good start to a relationship? I mean, how do you exactly help how a relationship starts? everyone has their skeletons, and yet I'm supposed to ask about them prior to a relationship? should I start interviewing the potential prospects before dating? lol. give me some feed back here
d0nnivain Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 For me a good relationship starts with mutual attraction. I need that spark. It moves at a pace both people are comfortable with. The people spend time together. They get to know each other. They introduce each other to friends & family where possible. There are no early red flags that remain unexplained. The connection grows slowly over time & has elements of friendship. The people want to spend time together. They are putting in equal amounts of effort. Both people feel secure. Both answer Qs; nobody is evasive. They have similar interests & values. They have the ability to talk about anything, everything & nothing.
Still Searching Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Crazily enough, I did this, to a point, with the girl I'm seeing now. I knew what issues were deal-breakers for me in the past, what types of views on certain things I could and couldn't accept, that kind of stuff. I'm a fairly blunt individual, and laid it out there early, told her I didn't want to waste her time or mine, and simply asked her a few things. I liked what I heard, and things have been going well ever since. You'll constantly be learning new things about each other in a relationship, for a long time, maybe forever, but in my situation, it was helpful to be up front on a few subjects. People change over time, too, so it's not like my or her views, thoughts, opinions, goals, or what-have-you won't ever change in the future.
