No physical attraction, but should I give him a chance anyway?

It's true that sometimes attraction can grow. I've had ex boyfriends who didn't really turn my head when I met them first, but as friends when I started to get to know their personality, interests, sense of humour, etc. they have suddenly got more attractive to me.

But the thing is, it's not really a conscious decision you make, if that makes sense. The attraction would've grown before I would've thought of dating them, not the other way around. You simply can't force yourself into being attracted to someone if you're not -- and getting with someone who you're knowingly not attracted to is a recipe for disaster.

I wonder if men think this way of women as well? It would be interesting to know. I was recently dismissed by a man I went out with, and the dismissal seemed to be almost instantaneous, a few minutes into the date. It was one of the most bizarre things I've experienced in a while... kinda insulting to show it when you're not feeling it, and act all rude during the date.. i get that people might not want to pursue things if they feel no attraction, but at least be a gentleman about it! Anyway, i suspect men are more into the chemistry thing and women want to find out more about the person, this is why it's said that men know from the first date usually, if they want to keep on dating this person, whereas for women , it's usually 4-5 dates in.

I have. I had a plain looking guy friend in uni who became one of my favorite boyfriends ever. He wasn't even in the running until we became friends and he was super interesting and had lots of depth. I am still a little in love with him. After we got together he started getting more and more attractive. He moved back to Costa Rica though and married his high school sweetheart. I still think of him fondly. I regret letting him get away sometime. :(
