theothersully
I have a type I am looking to meet more of. A couple other people here have expressed the same thing. I'm hoping everyone can jump in with an idea on where to meet these types. First, let me describe... •Free thinker/spirit - doesn't listen to society's rules •Likes to travel all the time, as a lifestyle •Local, natural and organic foods important to them •No drugs, no smoking, a little drinking ok •In shape and takes good care of their body, mind and soul •Is kind/nice/empathetic toward others •loves adventure •Kind of a hermit/survivalist Where do I find a bunch of these types of people, so I would find a potential actual ltr type chick?
Author theothersully
oh another one... •more interested in travel/living/learning by reading/other cultures than interested in careers Money not an issue. I have money to fund this lifestyle.

Forgive me if I'm wrong here, but it sounds like you're looking for your "manic pixie dream girl" to help you out of your "box" and see the world fresh. I think you might find a healthier relationship if you took yourself out of your box and became or did most of the things on this list that you seek. And I would posit, by going on nature trips, hikes, survivalist camps, and travels, you will likely meet other single women who have these interests as well. Just a thought.

Wow! sounds like me! --except for the traveling. I've never traveled that much so dont know if id like it. I'm more the hermit/survivalist type. I think i'd enjoy raising chickens or ducks. LOL. I also like to fish, and garden. Also, there's something u left out that I need to express on a daily, sometimes multi-daily, basis! Being widowed a year now, I think i'm ready to find a real live person to spend some quality time with. but afraid if i did the bar scene i'd be bringing home the first guy i felt attracted to. I also dont want to get into anything that will complicate my life right now. Sometimes i feel like going up to some random guy and asking him to be my f---buddy! Recently I've been having fun playing on a cam site, to help with my sanity, or insanity, lol, and not feeling too guilty about it because its helping to pay the bills. I'd probably fall for a guy that knows how to set traps in the woods and has a great bow 'n arrow and knows how to use it!
Eggplant
Prestigious liberal arts colleges, where serious students are majoring in things that don't guarantee a solid career (as you specify that that is not a priority), but which are intellectually stimulating, like anthropology, art history, etc. These colleges tend to have many, many more women than heterosexual males, so there are an awful lot of young, bright single women in these places.

Author theothersully
Quoting AnyaNova again... " And I would posit, by going on nature trips, hikes, survivalist camps, and travels, you will likely meet other single women who have these interests as well. Just a thought." I've lived off grid since 2004 or so. I am adept at foraging, survival stuff, off grid power systems, cooking from the most basic ingredients up, survivalist stuff involving water/food/shelter, making watermakers, hunting, fishing, (for food only, never to harm an animal), etc. This is why I am so conflicted. This is what I love, but you do not find potential mates in the middle of nowhere. I'm a little above group hikes/camps/etc... I'm way out there already. I travel non stop as it is. Currently in nyc. Did a 1000 mile road trip up from Miami with the girl me and 2 other guys had great sex with this week... lol So... just describing my own self there and seeing where to meet like minded women for something more real. Make sense? Also, I'm big into sailing and often do my traveling by boat. Also very survivalist and so off grid, you don't even have water unless you plan ahead. xxoo
Lots of pockets of the US have populations of people like you describe. I know where to find them in every state I've ever lived in. Start at REI and the local food co-op. Look up meeting for local urban homesteaders.

Author theothersully
theothersully, Well I read your detailed list and was about to respond to where you can find me .......but then you posted this : Major dealbreaker. Sorry... Do you eat meat? Eat fish? Think plants don't feel anything when you tear them apart alive? Get real. We have to kill things to eat. Where do you think your food comes from, some kind of Willy Wonka factory of magic? It's all killed animals, killed fish, killed plants. We eat dead things to survive. I don't waste a scrap of anything, even bought in the store. When i eat, i know an animal or plant made a sacrifice so that i may live. I am thankful to them and their spirit every time i eat anything. There is nothing wrong with killing and preparing your own food instead of hiring others to kill for you and pretending it is somehow more humane. lollipopspot
Think plants don't feel anything when you tear them apart alive? No, plants really don't feel anything when you tear them. They have no brain or pain receptors. There's a big difference between chopping a carrot and killing a lamb.
Woggle
People who eat meat but get all sensitive about hunters are sort of hypocritical. At least hunters have an appreciation for where their food comes from.
Phoe
As a girl who fits quite a few of your descriptions, I'll tell you where you might find me. Gym, hiking trails, beaches, parks, lakes. I'll be fishing, hiking, riding a bike, swimming, jogging, maybe just lounging around reading a book. But I wont be in those outdoor places as frequently in the winter which means I'll be in the gym mostly.

Plants are much more aware and feeling than you imagine.

Big follow up question: How will I know it's you and not a different type of girl? How will I see you are into the things on this list? Will there be a tell, or will I have to go up to every Phoe I see and start asking about her interests?

How will I see you are into the things on this list? Will there be a tell, or will I have to go up to every Phoe I see and start asking about her interests? I wouldn't say those are regular spots that we all go to, there are plenty of people out there who have NO interest in hiking or fishing, so if you see a girl doing that, that's already a good indicator that it's something she's into. Otherwise, I don't think there's any way for you to know other than talking to a girl. If I could project what kind of person I am on a big sign above me, dating would be exceptionally less complicated, haha.

Do Plants Respond to Pain? | Smithsonian Channel Plants are living creatures that react to their environment. Venus fly trap as an extreme example. They have life. They have reactions. Just because they do not have a face and a voice box to let us know, it doesn't mean they are not feeling things.

But yeah, there aren't many clues on interests by appearance. Maybe another strategy would be to alter my own appearance to look more like that type... like the guy who was looking for hipsters needed to do in the other thread. I don't really have an image. Hmmmm.... dating signs... or t shirts... want to start a company? ha ha ha Edited December 1, 2013 by theothersully

You're going to have to do better than that. That video said nothing about "pain" in plants - I don't know why it got that title except to get views. It was about electrical reactions. But tell me, since you are concerned about "pain" in plants, what are you doing to reduce their suffering? I mean, if you want to eat meat or hunt, that's your business and you don't have to justify it, but you're putting forth a silly argument seemingly to justify it.
