i have thin curly hair. it gets to my shoulders and it is so thin and stringy looking that i have to cut it. seriously my ponytail is about as thick as my thumb. its not like i want gorgous flowing locks (ok i do) but i just want to be able to have my pretty curls shoulder length w/out having to cut them.

so has anyone tried rogaine for women or anything else that may work. and don't tell me mane n' tail. i don't want to be bald before my man is.

i have thin hair too, i dont know how true it is but i heard rogaine once started has to be used continuously or u may end up with thinner hair..

i was told i should give myself or get scalp massages to increase circulation and that makes hair grow stronger.

Massaging my scalp did help my hair grow stronger, but as soon as i get stressed out my hair starts thinning again.

hoped that helped

My hair is also thin and curly. I have spent endless hours searching for answers on how to keep it from thinning. I keep having to cut it and my fiance always feels sorry for me because it gets so bad at times he can see my scalp.

Although I had a sudden relapse into this dumb thinning, I learned that Garnier Fructis and Dove have GREAT products for thin hair. With the first one I can wash as much as I'd like without clumps of hair falling out. It is seriously the best feeling in the world when I detangle my hair and *gasp* NO HAIR IN THE COMB!!

I also recommend Infusium 23's leave-in conditioner. I normally don't have to use any other hair products after that!

You might also want to start taking a daily multi-vitamin so that your hair is less likely to fall out from your scalp.

Thin hair could be as simple as a zinc deficiency.

Consult your nutritionist and have a blood work up done you consult your pharmacist.

Yeah, I hear you all on that. My hair in a pony tail is also about as thick as my thumb, and I also have naturally curly hair.

Before I was 15, I actually had relatively thick hair. When my grandma died, I went almost bald, and my hair grew back slowly and thinner then previously. She is the one who raised me, so it was like having a parent die, not a grand parent.

Even at my ripe old age of 23, it still has not come in as thick as it was, and I doubt that it ever will at this point.

I have tried several things- progaine for women, and several other types of shampoo for thinning hair. But, my problem? My hair is naturally curly, and therefore dry on the ends. The thickening shampoos frazzeled the ends while the top still remained thin!

Now, I keep my hair fairly short--no longer then touching my shoulders, and usually more in a pixie cut. It's long now, but as soon as I get down to my goal weight-130 lbs- I'm going to go with the pixie cut again.

Grr!

I digress--What I do now is use high quality salon products that are supposed to volumize hair with out leaving residue. I occasionally switch brands in another attempt to keep residue at a minimum. I also use a volumizer mousse, and blow dry my hair. However, since my ends are try, I apply Citreshine smoothing serum to the ends, but I don't even get close to the roots.

Now, my hair is visibly thinner then most people's, but it has plenty of volume to make up for it, and isn't quite as noticable.
