Is he alluding to spending Thanksgiving together :o (we're just dating)

I'm stupid sometimes, but I just want to make sure I didn't interpret this crazy. I got a text from this guy tonight I went on a date with Saturday and he said he enjoyed spending time with me and was wondering "if I'd like to do something this week/weekend".

I responded and said "yeah sure!" and asked what his plans were. He shortly responded "no idea yet".

Part of me just wants to tell him my plans (I'm with my family out of town and mentioned this during out date when he asked), and ask directly if he's alluding to something. Is that awkward to do?

We've been dating on and off for 8-9 months, but he doesn't have any family in the area so he probably is looking for somewhere to go.

That's a good question. How far out of town is your family? If you don't want him to come along just say you are going out of town to visit family, but you can do something Friday or Saturday etc. 8-9 months is a long time though, if he's a friend you should invite him if he has nowhere else to go, unless your adamantly opposed to him meeting your family.

I wouldn't ask if he's alluding to something because that is awkward and rude.

When he asked you if you wanted to do something, though, I'm not sure why you wouldn't just tell him that you have plans with your family.

However, you should tell him about your prior plans and give him your availability outside of that.

Already asked. I told him my plans with my family/availability as well though.

Am I the only one who thinks asking if I want to do something this week/weekend seems like "hinting" (since I told him I was going to be out of town/with my parents on our date)? Most people are with their families starting tomorrow/Thursday till at least Friday.

It depends.

It can be tough when you're in your an adult who doesn't have family nearby and a holiday approaches. I'm a guy and not getting to go home for Thanksgiving because my family is across country and I have so much work that I can only take Thursday off (also plane tickets be crazy yo!)

When some Thanksgiving plans fell through last week, I ended up dropping some subtle hints to a few friends asking what they were doing before I finally broke down and asked a close friend if I could come with him to his Thanksgiving thing. This is the only time I've had to do this (I'm 29 years old) but I'm told it's increasingly common when you're single and far from family. I have to admit that if I could swallow my pride and ask a friend about it, I probably wouldn't have thought twice about dropping a hint or two to someone I'd been dating for nine months.

So...yeah. He may hope you'll invite him because he doesn't want to be alone.
