Ask a girl who used to have a big crush on me if her friend is single?? What's the etiquette on that?

Not really. It's like kicking her when she's down. If the friend has any class she won't date you after you hurt her friend

No, it is insensitive. Find out using other means but don't expect to get lucky there because if her friend is decent she won't go there.

Nothing ever happened between me and her tho I never led her on or anything? If by hurt you mean I told her I just wanted to be friends then I guess I understand

dude! she had feelings for you which you are aware of...asking her if her friend is single is a kick in the teeth. It's cruel!

Bear in mind I give this advice to help the girls involved in this story...no don't! This is beyond an etiquette issue. What you do in this scenario is a reflection of your own character and levels of sensitivity and selfishness. Go about finding out the friend's availability by some other means; however, when you do find out, what do you propose to do with that information? If she is single, to act on it is also cruel assuming any part of the crush still exists. Surely if you are such a huge crush-worthy catch, you can find some other girl besides these two to date. Whole thing is messy and shady.

It doesn't matter. The friend "saw you first". Therefore to the girl you like, you should be off limits.

Not all women are as strict about that as I am so the friend may still date you but please don't make it so the woman you don't like gets any more hurt in the process.
