So a bit about me - I am late 30s. I came home from a deployment in a combat zone only to find out within a week that my wife did not want to be married anymore. I never really got much of an explanation from her, but cannot get past the inescapable conclusion of what really was behind this. I tried to fight for the marriage, but to no avail. Four months later I am still struggling with making sense of something that seems senseless. She is gone and has moved out and I am left alone to pick up the pieces. I am lonely but know that I need to get comfortable being alone. I have had some better days, but on my worst days (like today), I am paralyzed, questioning myself and trying to figure out how this could happen to me. How do I get past these bad days?

Thank you for your service.

Unfortunately many people are not cut out to handle the stress deployment has on the family & those left to keep the home fires burning. The military is doing a much better job helping both the service person & the spouse deal with this. Check out your command's offerings for help or ask your unit leader for a referral to a resource.
