Yesterday the boyfriend calls me up, apologizes for being so busy lately, and invites me out to dinner and a movie. He says he will get in contact with me today though because he doesn't know what time he's getting off work.

I texted him this morning and the day goes by and I don't hear from. Somewhere around 7pm I text him and ask him if he's tied up at work. He replies immediately with an apology and that's he's just getting off. I say that's fine.

An hour or so goes by and he asks me where am I? (I was guessing so that we could meet up). I reply that I'm at home. About another half hour goes by and I decide to give him a call. I'm fine with us not going out, but I would like to be clear one way or the other especially at this point since it's about 8:15 or so.

I call and he's clearly with other people and says he will text me. He does in maybe ten minutes or so and asks me what's up. I reply with question marks and say I thought we were going out. He then says we are, but at this point, it's maybe 8:30 or so and I'm sort of pissed (okay, I am pissed) about the lack of communication on his part.

I reply that it's fine, he's clearly busy, and we can meet another time. He then proceeds to get upset, but I end the conversation by saying I was turning in and would talk to him later.

I am wondering, however, if maybe I overreacted here? But honestly, I was pissed, it's cold out, and I was tired from work and really didn't feel like meeting up with him so late and felt the whole thing was ill planned on his part.

Was he at a pub with his buddies? What time was he going to come to you, booty call time?

Hard to tell. It was loud in the background though. He might have simply been at home, he has roommates, but I think if he was at home he would have gone to another room so he could hear me instead of texting me.

As for time, I don't know what he was thinking. When he didn't get off until late this afternoon I was fine with canceling our plans and in fact expected to, but I guess he missed the memo? If he would have canceled I wouldn't have been mad.

Is this something he does often? I mean, I think it is rude to leave you hanging as though you have nothing better to do than to sit and wait on him. Do you do that often? Is he used to you doing things on his schedule?
