Why do we try and hold on to 'hope' that they'll comeback?

I have read so many of the BU stories here on LS and so many of us dumpees still try and hold on to the false hope that their now Ex's will realise what they have lost and will reach out and come back!

Why do we do this, why do we 'feel' this way about someone who clearly at the end just didn't want to be with us anymore but we still 'feel' their is hope?

At what point do we begin to accept that it's over and they are not coming back!

Well that's the thing, we can't lose hope until we accept that the relationship is over.

Accepting the relationship is over comes down to facing the facts that the relationship wasn't perfect for both of you and at least one of the parties decided that something else (freedom, another partner, etc.) was worth more to them than continuing the relationship.
