dyermaker Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Well, unless you buy the bottled stuff...which I am guilty of. You shouldn't buy bottled water. If you have clean pipes, tap water is always cleaner than bottled water. Also, the only thing those expensive Brita water filters do is stop rocks from getting in your drink, and unless you change the filter religiously, you can actually get the graphite from the filter in your drink.
dyermaker Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Water doesn't actually have a taste. The taste of tap water, which tastes different depending on where you are, comes from the minerals inside it. They're not bad for you, tapwater is constantly monitored for safety. The worst thing in your water for you, in terms of toxicity, is flouride--which is of course, only if your water is flouridated. In San Francisco, our water comes from Yosemite, and tastes awesome.
Stone Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 LMAO well you can bottle it up and send it over because my water taste like seaweed and smells like eggs ( we're on well water)

My tap water is pretty nasty and I can tell you there's a big difference in taste and clarity between fresh from the tap and after it's been through the filter. And if by "religiously" you mean "every 3 months", then you're right on the second point.

It makes a HUGE difference in taste, actually. It removes all the chemical tastes that you otherwise get from chlorination plus any weedy/fishy/whatever flavours. It makes better tea and coffee even. And it's not graphite, I think it's charcoal: These are fragments of carbon, which may have rubbed off during transit. The contents of the cartridge are all food grade and completely harmless and their presence will not affect the performance of the cartridge. http://www.brita.co.uk/action/products/jugs/faqs/ And take it easy on the water! If you've had ten eight-ounce glasses, that's eighty ounces or DOUBLE what you're supposed to drink.

tanbark813 Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Dyer, no offense, but you don't know what you're talking about.
