So I must admit during the first few days of the break up I was pretty distraught. Something that has helped me that might help you is I focused on whether I was upset over losing her or the companionship. After thinking about it I think for myself at least the sadness I felt had more to do with my routine being all messed up and not having that person to count on more then me missing her ( sex sucked and I lost attraction to her by the end). Just figured I'd share my story and ask yourself do you really miss the ex or the companionship of having a relationship. Since the breakup I've filled my void by hanging out with friends and working out. Also picked up a second job...gotta force yourself to move forward.

Good attitude! You are heading in the right direction! However, you're only 9 days into NC, you still have a long road ahead of you.

No doubt I agree with you but instead of holding onto a glimmer of hope that things can be worked out I'm taking the approach that its over and done and that bridge is now burned and time to move on with my life which gives me more to look forward to I think.

I just miss the companionship I believe. Talking to my ex was like having a best friend. I could tell him anything. I just miss him and before we started dating I ALWAYS insisted we be friends but he pursued me and dumped me, but I really wouldn't mind having my old friend back. I always knew we were better off as friends. But he claims he doesn't make a good friend, whatever that is supposed to mean.
