sean001 Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Ok, I came to this site for some general help/advice a few days ago and now I'm completely ADDICTED to reading about other people's problems and trying to offer help. Now, I NEED HELP to shut this computer down!!! I keep going to the unreplied posts and making a statement, I keep getting notified of new postings to threads I subscribed to, I keep checking for any private messages, OMG HELP ME!!!!!!
alphamale Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 you don't need any help. this is normal esp for a newbie
Author sean001 Posted December 27, 2004 Author Posted December 27, 2004 you're on here a lot, you registered in november, when does it stop being "new"
ziggue Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Guess that makes you a regular on here now. .
reasontosigh Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Perhaps I can offer some comfort - or something like it. Yesterday (12/26) was my one-year anniversary here. I didn't have any specific problem I wanted to look into when I came - I found this place as a result of following various links, starting with an article I was reading at MSN News. Even when I am not actively posting, I do lurk/read to catch up on various situations (or posters) that have caught my eye. I have also, here and there, offered input on unreplied posts - even when I did not have an answer I would at least ask questions that would try to help clarify a situation. The only thing I admit I don't do is get notifications in email of threads I have posted in or initiated - my inbox is more than overloaded enough! (The number of threads that I have subscribed to can be counted on one hand, at best.) The only time I am away from here for any considerable length of time is when my computer is down (which has happened more than once! ) Frankly, I'd say alphamale is right - this sort of thing is quite normal for someone new. (OMG....I actually agree with him on something!!! ) Should you find this interferes with the rest of your life after some time, then perhaps some sort of intervention may be necessary. Wow..... I've been here for 366 days now! Hopefully I've managed to do some good in that time........
Naive Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 But Sean001 is not new. if you looks he has been on here since Sep 2003.
reasontosigh Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Ah yes, naive_2001, you're right. Yet he posted this thread yesterday. Hmmm...I'm not sure I understand what remains to be resolved, then.
Author sean001 Posted December 27, 2004 Author Posted December 27, 2004 Sorry, I made this post and took off -- had to! Yes, I was on here before a year ago with another issue, but I was so caught up in my own "problem" that I just logged on to respond/ reply. Now, I'm taking a keen interest in other people and can't seem to get disinterested... (except for the last few hours)...
Mr Spock Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Normally I'm only on at work-my home computer is slow and the hard drive makes horrible crunching sounds as it reads. If I'm too weary to post I won't bother reading any of them either......on and off. I can take it or leave it really.
whichwayisup Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Welcome to the shack of love and we will warp your mind, you'll dream of posting and replying, get the shakes and keep coming back for more!! Nah, it's fun, you get to help people, vent about things that you wanna to share and have some laughs along the way! There are some very funny people and some hysterical threads in the place!! So why stop?? Harmless, unless you're doing one handed typing?? HMM?? nah, Just kidding!!
Thinkalot Posted December 27, 2004 Posted December 27, 2004 Lol..i've been here more than a year now. I've had a few breaks..but usually come back. For a while I was VERY addicted...then it tapered off, as I got busier with other things in my life. When I need help, I tend to check in a lot.

Author sean001 Posted January 12, 2005 Author Posted January 12, 2005 man.... I thought I had beat my LS addiction... But what is amazing is how much this post has just gone on without me.... You didn't even notice I was gone!
Scott S Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Originally posted by iceisles I agree. I have met some of my best friends on here. I have met some very nice people here, & have made some great e-buddies. A lot of people come here hurting, & not knowing what to do. I hope they've found comfort & encouragement as well as good advice.
sportynut38 Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Just so you know Sean001 ~ your advice/insight was very helpful to me and I do appreciate it. So thank you ... As for the addiction, well, at least LS doesn't make you have the hangover in the morning
