2fargone Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Never long... Someone new always comes into my life. And always unexpected.
JourneyLady Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 This would be the longest - about 8 months... a year if you don't count the fast on-off of the guy who was long distance. But we never had sex, so... I guess a year. I'm really not in a hurry. I know at least one guy and maybe two that would be interested in spending time with me, but there are various reasons I'm not attracted enough to put any effort in either of their directions. I am often lonely at night... but not desperate really. I don't know what I feel... but it's different. I think I still have PTSD from the last relationship and not eager to risk that again. I won't shove off someone interesting if he comes along, but I'm not out hunting either, except sort of passively. (Listed, but not checking.)
GoodOnPaper Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 As the question asked How long were you single before you found your partner or are you still single? How many dates did it take? Almost a year. Briefly dated a couple of people in the interim - the first of whom was my wife. We started dating again about 8 months after we had the first time. I'm surprised at the long time gaps reported by many of the women. The hardest part of being single for me was finding women who would admit to being single. I figured the average woman went about 10 seconds between boyfriends like in that How I Met Your Mother episode.
Author napy666 Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Do you think an ex returning to your life is possible or once the relationship is done it's done? I've been thinking of my ex a little bit on and off.
GoodOnPaper Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Do you think an ex returning to your life is possible or once the relationship is done it's done? I've been thinking of my ex a little bit on and off. We had just gone on 2 or 3 dates the first go-around. I didn't think of her as an "ex". After an actual relationship, when it's done, it's probably done.
Eternal Sunshine Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I always date. As for LTRs - I have been single for nearly 1.5 years. I have currently been dating someone for nearly 2 months but I am still unsure what it will turn into. 1
greenfairie Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I've had a few casual relationships two months after my breakup of 4 years….. Over the last two years, its been casual relationships and then recently, I just got a bf. so its been almost two years I was single.. before that it was about for four-six years I was in and out of relationships with a few guys… when this is said and done, I realize I need some me time. I can't always be with a guy just to make me happy. I need ME to make me happy.
sun1972 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 i dont think ive ever been single for more than a few months... im currently single, and have been for 15 days
2fargone Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Do you think an ex returning to your life is possible or once the relationship is done it's done? I've been thinking of my ex a little bit on and off. I actually contacted an ex of 5 years ago after most recent ex said certain things about me and I wanted to know if that could be true. She was the only one I could think of to verify it. While talking to her apparently her feelings for me came back. But with her it was all different. We never got a chance to fully develop the relationship, and I felt back then I should back out, told her so and went NC. Yes, for 5 years. No fighting about it, just a mutual understanding. I guess the status right now is : Work in progress
iris219 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I'm surprised at the long time gaps reported by many of the women. The hardest part of being single for me was finding women who would admit to being single. I figured the average woman went about 10 seconds between boyfriends like in that How I Met Your Mother episode. That's how I've always seen it for men. I knew men getting divorced and they were in serious relationships as soon as they moved their stuff out of the home they shared with their wives. I was single for about 4 years. Hardly went on any dates. No sex for 2 years. I tired to get back together with my ex during that time simply because I had no options. I met my current bf before he was officially divorced. I didn't like the idea of dating him before the divorce, but I knew he'd be snatched up if I choose to wait.
