I feel a lot of burden and guilt weighing on my shoulders. I know I did the right thing but I find myself constantly having to remind myself to stay positive and that I did do the right thing. I just feel a lot of guilt for causing pain.

If you dump someone, is it natural to feel guilt/regret/remorse after breaking up your own relationship?

I felt terrible guilt when I left my wife. I felt 10000% it was the right thing to do because I was no longer in love with her. But I hated hurting someone I still cared about. I had horrible feelings I was abandoning her. That I was selfish, etc.

That's exactly how I felt. I was no longer in love with my ex, but I was confused and kept giving myself an excuse to keep staying and that I was just confused but I kept having the same feeling for months. I do feel selfish for how I ended it because we are not on good terms.

You feeling guilt shows how much you cared. It doesn't make you a bad person for breaking up with someone. You feel responsible, but in the end the both of you are responsible for your own needs/life.
