"you can't afford the luxury of a negative thought."

really wonderful book. a bit on the hippie side, but wonderful nonetheless. I found it on a dusty old bookshelf in the attic and have spent the past 2 days reading it. it's extremely helpful. it's meant for people who are suffering primarily from life-threatening illnesses, but as the authors note, sometimes life itself is a life-threatening illness. there are a lot of exercises for overcoming resentment, dealing with painful memories, and similar. I thought I'd mention it since it's been helping me a lot, and since many of us are stuck in the negative thinking rut the book analyzes and seeks to correct.

I think I remember reading that back in the 80's. Isn't that the one that begins something like "everything created by humans, good and bad, began as a thought" ?

I probably still have my copy in my library.

yes. it is so relaxing to read before you fall asleep. adhering to its advice for good is another thing entirely, but it helps.
