greenfairie Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Been involved with him for five years... Was my first love, accepted the fact were done... I feel good most of the time but there are really weak moments (if you can see my other threads) How long does it take to fully get over your first love?
Vinsanity1307 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I was with my ex for 5 years as well. I am 4 months post BU and still struggle. I dont have an answer but I know what your going through...
carhill Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 How long does it take to fully get over your first love?Bad example to give positive hope but, if I had to be completely honest, and we did finally resolve it, I can tally up about 24 years, 5 months. I suspect you'll completely move on far more efficiently and with far less collateral damage. Tip: Avoid 'unfinished business'. MC helped me with that in my M and I processed our D in a much healthier way. Good luck.

d0nnivain Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 It varies. I have heard it said that it takes 1/2 the length of the relationship. Personally I think you are well on your way when you stop crying or obsessing on a daily basis. Once you get there, count it as a victory & continue to move forward.
