How do I ask this guy out???

Here's the deal. There is this man who works in Shipping and Receiving at the corporation I work for. I have known him for about a year and a half, since he was our delivery guy when I first started. (Since then, the routes were redone and we have someone else, but he still stops by every now and then.) I have always innocently flirted with him, and I have always known that there was just something about him, but I never realized how perfect we would be for each other, and how much I wanted to give it a try before, because I was too busy chasing all the wrong kinds of guys.

Well, here lies the problem. As perfect as we would be for each other, its not as easy as just walking up to him one day and asking him out. First off, he is a painfully shy person. (As shy as he is, I am one of the only people he will actually have a conversation with). I am just as shy as he is. I am willing to try and step outside of my comfort zone to do this, but I don't know how. But I also don't want to make him think I am an overbearing person. Because that sure isn't the case. The second problem is, I see him all the time, but many times it is in passing as he is riding by, or if he stops by the building I only have a brief period of time to work with. The third problem is that I am 24 and he is 39. I am not a typical 24 year old woman, as anyone who knows me would say, I have the mentality and maturity level of at least a 30 year old. However, he doesn't know me quite well enough yet to know that. I am afraid if I just walk up to him and ask him he wouldn't even consider it because of my age.

I actually feel for once like this could be the relationship that lasts, but I just don't know how to get it started. Does anyone have any advice?????
